Joshua Says

  • I have an idea/two ideas/four ideas! (In a most enthusiastic shout, when he wants us to play something different with him.)
  • I really love my aeroplane... (On finding his United Airlines diecast plane, after looking for it for several days; it had fallen in between the mattress and the wall in his playroom.)
  • You bet! Definitely! (In a shout, when I asked him if he wanted some cold water to drink)
  • How cool this is!
  • I'm just kidding. (Usually after he's said something cheeky to me.)
  • Where are we going today?
  • I'm trying to keep my eyes open... (As he puts his head on K's shoulders, about to nod off.)
  • I have wiggly leg. (Which he proclaims when he wakes up from his nap. When K can't understand him, he proceeds to wiggle his body to show his Daddy what he means.)
  • I don't know what to do./I'm so bored.
  • I want a bigger house, this house too small. (And this is with us having a backyard.)
  • I want a house like that! (When we were watching a documentary on TV about a family with 16 kids, and they had like a mega big ginormous playroom.)
  • Oh no, we better hurry! (So that we don't miss watching the train go by.)
  • Oh no, it's coming out! It's coming out! (As we're frantically rushing to make it to the loo in time.)
  • I'm trying, Mum... (After I say for the sixteenth time, "Josh, close your eyes and sleep.")
  • Sings Old MacDonald had a Honda, e-aye-e-aye-oh, vroom vroom here...
  • We are pretending to be puppets. (As he sits in the bathtub having his bath.)
  • Oh, not today then, cos I'm a naughty boy today (After I tell him that he'll have to be a good boy if he wants us to bring him to see a Thomas exhibition.)

He's become so articulate, K and I are sometimes so stunned by what comes out of his mouth. Where did that baby who said "eh, eh, eh" to everything go? It IS loads of fun to hear him now, we never know what new thing he's gonna say.

Of course, there are times when I do wish he'd just shush! Like when he says "I need a new toy!" Need?!!?

hey Fio,
J and E are absolutely adorable. Are you sure you don't want a third? :)
I really enjoy reading your blog, looks like you are having a great time in Claremont.
I am so looking forward to when my baby boy starts making 'proper' sounds. His current favourite 'babble' is shrieking at the top of his lungs!
